2 HOURS OF POWER CHALLENGE
OWLS Garden Needs Your TLC This Summer Are you looking for a fun, rewarding community service activity for the whole family? Please consider taking care of the Morse OWLS Garden this summer. On Friday during Field Day, every Morse student will plant a single plant in the OWLS Garden and we need volunteers to nurture the garden this summer so it will be healthy for students to use as an outdoor classroom when they return in the fall. Signing up means that you/your family will go up to school 3-4 times during your selected week to water the garden and pull any weeds that threaten the health and beauty of our students' plants. PTO will send out detailed instructions. Please sign up or contact Holli Banks at banksholli@gmail.com if you have questions. Urgent Help Wanted: Harvest Hustle Co-Chairs Our first fundraising event for next school year--the Mother-Son Harvest Hustle--is slated for Friday, October 11, 2019. The PTO Board has already recruited a few committee members and secured use of the Morse building and grounds, but we are still looking for one or two Morse parents or caregivers to take the lead in developing and coordinating logistics. While we'd like the purpose of the evening to remain the same--moms and sons getting together for fun all while raising some money for our school--the method in which this goal is achieved is largely up to the event chair/co-chairs and the committee. The event could be similar to its current Minute-To-Win-It format or take a new direction. Because it is our first fundraising event of the year, it is important planning begins now and that we start the year off with a bang! Please contact Jessica Holthaus or Laura Broeckelman at morseptobv@gmail.com with questions. |
DON'T FORGET
Hang On To Those Field Trip Shirts At the start of this school year, PTO provided each student a field trip shirt. The t-shirts are color-coded by graduation year and are intended to continue on with your child to the next grade level. Our goal is to purchase as few replacement shirts as possible each year, so please keep your child's shirt somewhere safe over the summer. |
GOOD TO KNOW
Trivia Night was HUGE Success! Thank you for your support of this year’s Trivia Night. We entertained 160 Morse parents, friends and staff with a night of friendly competition and plenty of fun. We were able to raise $12,500 towards our school’s “Whole, Healthy Child” campaign, which is focused on enhancing our students’ social, emotional and physical well-being. Funds raised from Trivia Night will allow our PTO to continue to pursue unique social-emotional learning opportunities to benefit our children. We have plans in place to add a sensory path—a colorful, playful and creative indoor pathway designed to help develop motor skills like balance, hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. We’ve also secured well-known speaker Kirk Martin to lead two "Celebrate Calm" presentations for parents to teach them how to better understand and enjoy their strong-willed children. We will also host a "Celebrate Calm" assembly for students to learn practical lessons in self-control. Please take a moment to recognize our business sponsors whose generosity helped make this event a success. Back To School Prep Is Well Underway Yup, you read that correctly! Because parents have to juggle the close of one school year while prepping for the next, Morse PTO created a handy What & When Back to School checklist. It’s your one-stop guide to everything admin when it comes to signing your child up for school and starting the year off right! **Helpful tip: The deadline to order school supplies online is June 7. Details in the checklist.** Support Teachers And Staff Through A Donation To Take Stock Morse PTO does not ask students to fundraise. Instead, we ask you fulfill staff grant requests by donating to Take Stock when you register your child or at the start of the school year. When you pay a PTO fee or contribute to a fundraising event, the funds are distributed by PTO to support specific school initiative, but 100% of your Take Stock donation goes directly back into the classroom in the form of resources, educational materials, innovative programming and cutting edge technology. Take a look at last year's Take Stock approved staff grants and be sure to donate to Take Stock through ParentVue today! Celebrate The Last Day of School with Kona Ice The Morse Neighborhood is hosting the Kona Ice Truck to celebrate the last day of school and all are welcome! Please join us on Friday, May 24 from 12-12:30pm at 152nd Street between Monrovia and Oakmont. Prices will vary depending on size. |
